On March 28, 2025, Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta Against Human Trafficking, H.E Michel Veuthey, in collaboration with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), organized a side event on the sidelines of the 58th session of the Human Rights Council. The event, titled “After 25 Years of the Palermo Protocol: The Need for Real Action That Makes a Difference,” highlighted the ongoing challenges in combating human trafficking. This was the first step of the new collaboration between the Order of Malta and UNITAR established on February 3rd, 2025. This partnership will take the form of an online course on human trafficking, set to launch between mid-January and mid-February 2026. The event gathered high-level speakers as :

- Mr. Kevin Hyland OBE, LLM, former UK Government’s first Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner (2014 to 2018) and Chief Executive of PRAEVENI GLOBAL
