From March 31 to April 1, the 25th Alliance Conference against Trafficking in Persons occurred in Vienna with 750 participants. The Order of Malta was represented by H.E Sebastian Prinz von Schönaich-Carolath, Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Austria, and H.E Michel Veuthey, Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta Against Human Trafficking. The conference focused on ending child trafficking, particularly with themes of “Protecting Childhoods, Shaping Futures.” It was tasked with addressing issues such as digital exploitation, AI-generated abuse, and forced criminality, primarily affecting vulnerable children such as those in institutions or who are unaccompanied. Experts stressed the need for stronger laws, better victim support, and a child-centered justice system. The discussion panel called for greater international cooperation, improving the rehabilitation programs, and public-private partnerships to tackle online threats. The OSCE reaffirmed its commitment to combating child trafficking through collaboration, legal reforms, and sustainable, victim-focused solutions.
