From October 13 to 14, the Ambassador delivered eight hours of introductory lectures on International Humanitarian Law (IHL) to Master’s students at the Université Côte d’Azur in Nice. During the lectures, he examined the historical origins of IHL, its core principles, and the main actors involved. He also reviewed key legal instruments and highlighted notable historical cases illustrating the practical application of IHL.
Drawing on his extensive experience within the International Committee of the Red Cross, where he has held multiple positions throughout his career, the Ambassador shared his insights and engaged students in a discussion on the future of International Humanitarian Law.
The sessions provided an excellent opportunity to underscore the importance of respecting IHL and to raise awareness about trafficking and other violations in armed conflicts. IHL and Human Rights are fundamental protections for all individuals and must be upheld under all circumstances.
