Sports, often celebrated for their power to unite and inspire, unfortunately hide dark realities that demand urgent and collective attention. Human trafficking, exploitation, and modern slavery remain persistent issues within the sports domain, affecting athletes of all ages and backgrounds. Aware of the magnitude of this problem, the Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, in collaboration with Mission 89, organized a side event on this topic on June 20th at the Palais des Nations. Co-sponsored by the Permanent Mission of the Holy See in Geneva, this event was held during the 56th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.
