On 8 May 2025, H.E. Michel Veuthey, Ambassador to monitor and combat trafficking in persons, and Mr. Kevin Hyland OBE, CEO of PRAEVENI Global and Strategy Director of Santa Marta Group, held a series of bilateral meetings with key diplomatic representatives in Geneva.
They were received by H.E. Ambassador Christian Guillermet-Fernández, Permanent Representative of Costa Rica to the United Nations in Geneva; Ms. Tsholofelo Glenda Tsheole, Deputy Permanent Representative of South Africa; and Ms. Veronica Waeni Nzioki, Second Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Kenya.
The discussions focused on the urgent need for concrete and coordinated international action against human trafficking. The participants shared national and regional perspectives on prevention, protection of victims, and prosecution of perpetrators, while highlighting the importance of cooperation among governments, international organisations, and civil society.
The meetings also served to introduce and garner support for an upcoming high-level international conference co-organised by the Sovereign Order of Malta, PRAEVENI Global, and Professor Hans Zollner SJ, Director of the Institute of Anthropology, Interdisciplinary Studies on Human Dignity and Care (IADC) at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. The conference aims to advance global efforts against trafficking through dialogue, best practices, and policy recommendations rooted in the promotion of human dignity.
