The 14th Session of the Working Group on Trafficking in Persons was held in Vienna on 8-9 July 2024. The meeting focused on two main topics: trafficking in persons for the removal of organs and national issues and priorities concerning child trafficking. The session featured expert presentations and general statements from various countries. Co-chaired by Professor Conny Rijken (Dutch Rapporteur on Human Trafficking) and Mr. Hicham Mellati (Director of Criminal Affairs, Ministry of Justice of Morocco), the event aimed to enhance the implementation of the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime and its Protocols.

The debates on trafficking for the removal of organs addressed the significant challenges and global issues related to this crime, emphasizing the need for robust measures in prevention, protection, and prosecution. The focus on child trafficking highlighted various national issues and priorities, underscoring the importance of targeted strategies to combat the trafficking of children effectively.
