On the occasion of the International Day of Peace, Arigatou International and the Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees held a panel discussion about the urgent matter of children in war. The event is part of the “Stand Up for Children in War” campaign, which was launched at the beginning of the month. During the event, Ambassador Michel Veuthey emphasized the moral, spiritual, and legal duty to protect children in conflict zones. He also highlighted the numerous cases of human trafficking, especially when it comes to child soldiers and sexual exploitation in war. He concluded by recalling the role of the Order of Malta, notably in the current negotiation on the resolution «Promotion and protection of the human rights of women and children in conflict and post-conflict situations: ensuring justice, remedies and reparation for the victims” which will be presented at this UN Human Rights Council session.
