Cabrini is a 2024 American biographical drama directed by Alejandro Monteverde, known for “Sound of Freedom.” The film portrays the life of Francesca Cabrini, an Italian immigrant and Catholic missionary who arrived in New York City in 1889. Confronted with poverty, disease, and prejudice, Cabrini dedicated herself to improving the lives of Italian immigrants, particularly orphaned children, by establishing schools, hospitals, and orphanages.

Cristiana Dell’Anna stars as Francesca Cabrini, with supporting performances from David Morse as Archbishop Corrigan, Giancarlo Giannini as Pope Leo XIII, and John Lithgow as Mayor Gould. The film runs for 142 minutes and is primarily in English, with some Italian dialogue.

The film offers an inspiring depiction of Mother Cabrini’s resilience and dedication, highlighting her significant contributions to immigrant communities in the United States.

It will be projected on Friday 17 January at the Palais des Nations in Room XIX. The event is organised by the Permanent Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations in Geneva in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of Italy.
