On April 28, Ambassador Michel Veuthey was invited by Caritas to attend a meeting of its working group on humanitarian policy to speak on the role of faith-based organizations in promoting international humanitarian law. His remarks first focused on the legitimacy these organizations enjoy in promoting IHL. He then discussed the Order of Malta’s historical role in promoting and applying IHL, as well as its current role in international diplomacy. He concluded his remarks by offering several recommendations to faith-based organizations for the effective promotion of IHL.
