We would like to congratulate the Special Rapporteur and his team for their well-documented report (<a href=\"https:\/\/reliefweb.int\/report\/world\/contemporary-forms-slavery-affecting-persons-belonging-ethnic-religious-and-linguistic-minority-communities-report-special-rapporteur-contemporary-forms-slavery-including-its-causes-and-consequences-ahrc5126-enarruzh\">A\/HRC\/51\/26<\/a>) on <strong>\u201cContemporary forms of slavery affecting persons belonging to ethnic, religious and linguistic minority communities\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Order of Malta would like to highlight the value of the concrete action of many religious congregations in the protection and rehabilitation of\u00a0<strong>victims of contemporary forms of slavery.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Allow me to briefly describe the Order of Malta&#8217;s contribution to the fight against contemporary forms of slavery:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>(1) Raising awareness <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Through its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orderofmalta.int\/diplomatic-activities\/bilateral-relations\/\">bilateral <\/a>(112 States) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orderofmalta.int\/diplomatic-activities\/multilateral-relations\/\">multilateral <\/a>diplomatic network, organizing and participating in conferences<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>(2) <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.orderofmalta.int\/\"><strong>Assisting<\/strong><\/a><strong> victims through medical and social programs <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Through its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orderofmalta.int\/about-the-order-of-malta\/national-institutions\/\">National Associations <\/a>and its worldwide humanitarian organization <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malteser-international.org\/en.html\">&#8220;Malteser International&#8221;.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>With a pilot project in Lagos: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orderofmalta.int\/news\/bakhita-centre-for-female-victims-of-trafficking-inaugurated-in-lagos\/\">&#8220;Bakhita Centre&#8221; <\/a>with <a href=\"https:\/\/stlouissisters.org\/news\/113-2012\/154-patricia-ebegbulem-ssl-receives-highest-papal-award\">Sr Patricia Ebegbulem, SSL <\/a>(Sisters of Saint Louis)<\/li>\n<li>Gathering and disseminating good practices on the site <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christusliberat.org\/\">www.christusliberat.org<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>(3) Offering a free online training course for helpers <\/strong>in English and French on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cuhd.org\/?lang=en\">https:\/\/www.cuhd.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>(4) Organizing 21 webinars on human trafficking <\/strong>( <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adlaudatosi.org\/\">www.adlaudatosi.org<\/a> ) with subtitles in seven languages (<a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/showcase\/8655843\">Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish <\/a>). The next webinars shall take place <strong>Tuesday, 20 September<\/strong> at 6:30 p.m. (CEST) on \u201cCountering The Use Of Technology To Recruit And Control Victims Of Human Trafficking, Especially Related To The Sex Trafficking Of Children And Women\u201d, and on <strong>Thursday, 6 October<\/strong> at 6 p.m. (CEST) on \u201cHuman Trafficking and Laudato Si\u2019: Towards A New Paradigm to Ensure the Protection of Human Dignity, To Prevent and Eradicate Human Trafficking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Order of Malta supports the recommendations of the Special Rapporteur<\/strong> calling upon Member States to<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <strong>ratify and implement<\/strong> all relevant international and regional human rights and labour rights standards<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>provide training<\/strong> for governmental service providers in order to tackle prejudice and discrimination<\/li>\n<li><strong>ensure equal access<\/strong> to public services, including economic and social protection, without discrimination<br \/>\n\u2022 <strong>make education adequate<\/strong>, accessible and affordable for minorities and migrant workers<\/li>\n<li><strong>grant access to justice and remedies<\/strong> without discrimination and unnecessary practical obstacles<br \/>\n\u2022 <strong>promote full participation in decision-making process<\/strong> of minorities, migrant workers and affected communities<\/li>\n<li><strong>establish safe, orderly and regular migration pathways<\/strong> for migrant workers in order to prevent human trafficking and smuggling.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Order of Malta would welcome an <strong>increased collaboration with <\/strong><strong>the Special Rapporteur<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Thank you.<\/p>\n","news_gallery":"no"},"news_categories":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/nohumantrafficking.orderofmalta.int\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/notizie\/3770","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/nohumantrafficking.orderofmalta.int\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/notizie"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/nohumantrafficking.orderofmalta.int\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/news"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/nohumantrafficking.orderofmalta.int\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/notizie\/3770\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/nohumantrafficking.orderofmalta.int\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=3770"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
