We would like to congratulate the Special Rapporteur and her team for their well-documented report (<a href=\"https:\/\/reliefweb.int\/report\/world\/trafficking-persons-agriculture-sector-human-rights-due-diligence-and-sustainable-development-report-special-rapporteur-trafficking-persons-especially-women-and-children-siobhan-mullally-ahrc5033-enarruzh\">A\/HRC\/50\/33<\/a>) on <strong>\u201cTrafficking<\/strong><strong> in persons in the agriculture sector: human rights due diligence and sustainable development\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Order of Malta would like to highlight the value of the concrete action of many religious congregations in the protection and rehabilitation of\u00a0<strong>victims of human trafficking.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Allow me to briefly describe the Order of Malta&#8217;s contribution to the fight against human trafficking:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>(1) Raising awareness <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Through its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orderofmalta.int\/diplomatic-activities\/bilateral-relations\/\">bilateral <\/a>(112 States) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orderofmalta.int\/diplomatic-activities\/multilateral-relations\/\">multilateral <\/a>diplomatic network, organizing and participating in conferences<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>(2) <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.orderofmalta.int\/publications\/activity-report-2021\/\"><strong>Assisting<\/strong><\/a><strong> victims through medical and social programs <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Through its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orderofmalta.int\/sovereign-order-of-malta\/national-institutions\/\">National Associations <\/a>and its worldwide humanitarian organization <a href=\"https:\/\/www.malteser-international.org\/en\/our-work\/africa\/kenya.html\">&#8220;Malteser International&#8221;.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>With a pilot project in Lagos: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orderofmalta.int\/2019\/04\/02\/bakhita-centre-female-victims-of-trafficking-inaugurated-lagos\/\">&#8220;Bakhita Centre&#8221; <\/a>with <a href=\"https:\/\/stlouissisters.org\/news\/113-2012\/154-patricia-ebegbulem-ssl-receives-highest-papal-award\">Sr Patricia Ebegbulem, SSL <\/a>(Sisters of Saint Louis)<\/li>\n<li>Gathering and disseminating good practices on the site <a href=\"http:\/\/www.christusliberat.org\/\">www.christusliberat.org<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>(3) Offering a free online training course for helpers <\/strong>(in English and French on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cuhd.org\/?lang=en\">https:\/\/www.cuhd.org<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p><strong>(4) Organizing 20 webinars on human trafficking <\/strong>( <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adlaudatosi.org\/\">www.adlaudatosi.org<\/a> ) with subtitles in seven languages (<a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/showcase\/8655843\">Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish <\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>The Order of Malta supports the recommendations of the Special Rapporteur calling upon Member States to ratify and implement all relevant international and regional human rights and labour rights standards.
