We would like to congratulate the Special Rapporteur for her well-documented report (A\/HRC\/50\/26) on <strong>\u201cViolence against indigenous women and girls\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Order of Malta welcomes her mention of<br \/>\n&#8211; the role of <strong>regional organizations<\/strong>, the role of <strong>local communities<\/strong> and especially <strong>indigenous women<\/strong>,<br \/>\n&#8211; the need to access to <strong>prevention and protection services<\/strong>, including in local indigenous languages<br \/>\n&#8211; the <strong>training in local languages<\/strong> for the native indigenous rural authorities<br \/>\n&#8211; the implementation of the <strong>extraterritorial human rights<\/strong> obligation of States, allowing for accountability by non-State actors for violations (Par. 51), without excluding recourse to the national courts of the State on whose territory the violation was committed, or multi-stakeholder initiatives such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theglobaldeal.com\/\">\u201cGlobal Deal\u201d.<\/a><br \/>\n&#8211; effective implementation of recommendations by <strong>truth commissions or commissions of inquiry<\/strong> (Par. 64)<\/p>\n<p>-the <strong>due diligence obligation by States to prevent, investigate and punish perpetrators<\/strong>, and to provide <strong>reparations<\/strong>for victims (Par. 76)<br \/>\n&#8211; the obligation for States to ensure that <strong>indigenous women and girls who are survivors of violence<\/strong> have adequate access to protection and support services, including <strong>culturally appropriate medical treatment, psychosocial counselling and professional training <\/strong>(Par. 86).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In Africa, Asia, Australia and Latin America, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orderofmalta.int\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Order-of-Malta-Activity-Report-2021.pdf\">Order of Malta<\/a> conducts projects with the aim of providing health care to indigenous populations, to strengthen their capacity to develop income-generating activities and to help them strengthen their rights.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Thank you.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Human Rights Council - A\/HRC\/50\/26 - Report on violence against women, its causes and consequences\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8Gtz5jTuwqA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n","news_gallery":"yes","news_gallery_elements":[{"id":350,"url":"https:\/\/nohumantrafficking.orderofmalta.int\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2022\/06\/33-scaled-2.jpg"}],"evidence":"no"},"news_categories":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/nohumantrafficking.orderofmalta.int\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/notizie\/341","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/nohumantrafficking.orderofmalta.int\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/notizie"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/nohumantrafficking.orderofmalta.int\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/news"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/nohumantrafficking.orderofmalta.int\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/notizie\/341\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nohumantrafficking.orderofmalta.int\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/342"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/nohumantrafficking.orderofmalta.int\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=341"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
